BARENDRECHT, Netherlands – Valvoline™, a brand of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), announced that its recently introduced Valvoline All-Fleet Extra NextGen SAE 15W-40, ACEA E7-08 engine oil was selected as the engine oil of choice by the Van den Brink Rallysport & Mammoet Rallysport team at the recent 2012 Dakar Rally in South America. The Dutch team, driving in an X 2222 GINAF, finished in 13th position in the truck category at this year’s event, which covered a 9.000 km route from the Atlantic Ocean through the mountains and desert dunes of Argentina, Chile and Peru to the Pacific coast of the continent.

The 2012 Valvoline Forest Rally Championship kicked off in great style on the recent Donegal forest rally, writes Austin Shinnors, PRO Valvoline National Forest Championship. Garry Jennings dominated the ten stage event, leading from start to finish and claiming nine fastest times. Jennings, who hails from nearby Kesh was at the wheel of a Group A Impreza. He is current Group N Tarmac champion and he won the Peugeot U.K. 206 cup in 2002.

The last two races in the FIA NEZ (North European Zone) Championship are history and Valvoline drivers Arne Johannessen and Roar Johansen finished one-two. Arne took a superb victory in the Unlimited Class with 123 out of 150 possible points. Roar secured second place with 91 points, ahead of Kjell Magne Rimstad with 77 points. All the medals in the FIA NEZ Championship go to Norwegians and will be handed out at the Norwegian Auto Racing Association’s official prize gala in November.
